This year's light up event makes the most out the unique botanical garden, and delivers the warmth and love of the park employees who helped create the special atmosphere where visitors can feel hopeful for the furture despite the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, Southeast Botanical Gardens' light up event was recognized as a "Night View Heritage of Japan" (a first for Okinawa) and it was awarded 7th place in Japan's 2020 Illumination Awards.

This year, as part of the "Flying Pikachu Project," a new Pokémon area has been installed in the garden among other themed areas including the "Lotus of Lights," a unique spot where lights portray lotus flowers in full bloom during the summer. Visitors can also enjoy the "Glowing Castle" decorated with lights and flowers, which also made an appearance last year, creating a tropical mood of vivid brilliance!

◎Pokémon area
As an initiative of the "Flying Pikachu Project," which connects people to people, people to communities, and delivers the joy of travel, a Pokémon area is now available in Southeast Botanical Garden!

◎Lotus of Lights
Lights are reproduced into lotus flowers that actually bloom in this spot. The reflection of the lights on the water creates a photogenic field of glowing lotus flowers.

◎Glowing Castle
This 10-meter high castle decorated with lights and flowers is a popular photo spot for couples!
