What is the Emperor's Cup?
The Emperor's Cup All Japan Basketball Tournament has a long history of about 100 years since the first tournament was held in 1922, and this year's tournament will mark the 98th time the tournament has been held. This is a traditional tournament in which teams recommended by the governing bodies, centering on the top-ranked clubs in professional and amateur tournaments, compete for the title of Japan's best basketball team. The new B.LEAGUE, now in its seventh season since its inauguration, has given birth to many stories, while the Emperor's Cup has spun a long history spanning a century. The Kings will challenge to carve the name of Okinawan basketball into that long history!
This will be the Ryukyu Golden Kings' sixth attempt at the tournament, and they will start from the semi-finals after finishing as the runners-up in the B.League last year. Last year, the team advanced to the final four for the first time, but regrettably lost to the Chiba Jets in the semifinals. In the 100-year history of the Emperor's Cup, no Okinawan team has ever won the tournament. Aiming to become the first team from Okinawa to win the Emperor's Cup, the team will play the semi-finals at the Okinawa Arena with the hopes of everyone who loves Okinawa in mind. ・From Naha Airport: Take the expressway bus and get off at Okinawa Minami IC. Approximately a 7-minute walk to the arena.
・From Naha Bus Terminal: Get off at "Dai-go Gate" (Gate 5) bus stop, or "Okinawa-shi undo koen mae" bus stop. About a 5-minute walk from either bus stop to the arena.
