Background and Objectives of the Implementation
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be the first ever three-country tournament to be held in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. As the three host countries share the commonality of being composed of islands with abundant nature, FIBA aims to convey the importance of environmental conservation through the tournament as a common legacy for the three countries.

To spread this message, JIP (JIP), the official mascot of the tournament, was created as a robot with a recycled hoop on its back and powered by power shoes that run on energy converted from recycled trash.
Through these concepts, JIP will communicate the importance of recycling and environmental conservation to basketball fans.
As a specific axis of this activity, the Japan Organizing Committee has decided to plan and implement "Pick & Shoot!".
