Observe Yambaru kuina for a limited time

The Yambaru forest area in the northern part of Okinawa Island is home to rare wild animals and plants, including the Yambaru Kuina, and Kunigami Village has designated September 17 as "Kuina Day" in order to protect the rich nature and culture of the area. To commemorate Kuina Day, a special event will be held to introduce the conservation of the Yambaru Kuina, a nationally designated natural treasure, and the rich natural environment of the Yambaru forest. The event will include a limited public viewing of the Yanbaru Kuina, workshops and panel exhibitions where visitors can enjoy learning about the Yambaru kuina and Yambaru's natural environment.

Yambaru Forest Panel Exhibition and Sale of Goods

Panels will be displayed to introduce the Yambaru kuina and the rich nature of Yambaru forest.

Yambaru kuina can be observed for a limited time

Okinawa Zoo & Museum breeds 3 Yambaru Kuinas (usually not open to the public) for the purpose of risk diversification. We will be opening them to the public for a limited time.
