［9/5-9/29] “Chatan Bamboo Crafts” Exhibition @ Koza Crafts Shop Fundou in September 2024

The special exhibition in September will be an exhibition of Chatan Bamboo Crafts.

The centerpiece of the exhibit is the tokachi bāki, which is used to celebrate Beiju (age 88)  on September 10 (August 8 in the lunar calendar).
This is a bamboo vessel in which rice is placed and served in this bāki, and the tokachi is displayed standing up.

In the past, it was used in all regions as a necessary item for the celebration of rice-celebration, but nowadays, it is rare and valuable and cannot be found anywhere else.
Please come and see the bamboo products and crafts made from Okinawan bamboo up close at Fundou.
