KIP is an international community center in Okinawa City, where more than 20 different nationalities and ethnic groups live. The place is an information center and also provide consultation services in English, Spanish and Chinese for foreign tourists and residents in Okinawa. KIP's friendly staff not only deals with tourists looking for sightseeing tips, but also offers consultations for living on the island, parenting issues and more. They also gives referrals to lawyers or legal specialists to help people with legal issues.
In addition, KIP provides free language classes (English, Spanish and Chinese).
The center also organizes a variety of cultural exchange events and programs where Japanese and non-Japanese people can come together and deepen mutual understanding for only the cost of the learning materials or ingredients (like for cooking classes). Advance reservations by phone are strongly recommended for consultation services (especially for consultations related to language barrier problems). They also offer telephone consultation services. Feel free to drop by Koza International Plaza even just to use a room provided where visitors can just sit and relax.
