Tosen Gama

Using white and blue decorative clay, Mr. Yamauchi produces a variety of arrow feather slipware designs, from large platters to small plates, that are created instantaneously by rotating a potter's wheel. The ever-changing blue of the Okinawan sea and sky overlaps with the design of the slipware and has been well received and awarded the 47th Okinawa City Industry Festival New Product Award for Excellence.

Tosen Yamauchi (Tokumitsu), potter and owner of Tosen Gama (kiln), learned production techniques while working as an elementary school teacher,continued his creative activities, and was certified as a Prefectural Certified Craftsman in 2019. He is also a member of the Ceramic Art Club of the Creation Art Association outside of Okinawa Prefecture.
