Ikehara Youth Association

This is the only youth group in Okinawa City that dances the “Kenkena” which is a song accompanied with small cymbals. Using materials from Second World War shell casings, these cymbals play an important role at the head of the procession. The dance style is the same, unchanged style from before the war, characterized by slow-tempo, simple performances.
